Letter V Books for Preschool

Sharing is caring!

Preschool is such a fun age! I love teaching this age, and reading picture books is one of my favorite parts of the day. Read from this list of letter V Books for preschool when you are ready to teach the shape and sound of V. Picture books are a fantastic way to introduce a new letter.

This fun collection of letter V picture books are a great way to spend time cuddling and reading with your child! As you read each book, be sure to emphasize the sound and shape of V by pointing to it on the book cover, and emphasizing the sound as you read each book aloud.

Miscellaneous Letter V Books for Preschool

I do try to organize the book lists by theme so you can find exactly what would appeal to your child. However, the selection for letter V is more limited, and so many of these books are excellent but would fit into a category of their own. I know you will enjoy these various letter V picture books.

The Village Basket Weaver by Jonathan London. This important Garifuna cultural tradition of weaving baskets for the Cassava bread must continue. But who will take over this incredible craft when the aging Abuelo Carpio cannot weave any longer?

The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle. A classic story illustrated with Eric Carle’s world famous artwork. The busy spider cannot be distracted from her masterpiece, no matter how hard the other animals try.

Vincent’s Colors by The Metropolitan Museum of Art. A collection of paintings from Vincent Van Gogh, turned into pictures in a picture book to teach about colors. Well-executed.

My Mouth is a Volcano by Julia Cook. Someone does not have control of his mouth, and interrupts way too much. A gentle way to teach kids about the importance of listening without interrupting.

Olivia Becomes a Vet by Alex Harvey. Olivia’s fantastic imagination helps her explore the world of veterinarians and what it might be like to be one. This book is based on the TV series spin-off from the original and wonderful book, Olivia by Ian Falconer.

Vegetable Picture Books

Growing Vegetable Soup by Louis Ehlert. A simple and elegant look at growing your own vegetables to make vegetable soup.

The Vegetables We Eat by Gail Gibbons. Fascinating details and facts and science about vegetables. The text can be a bit too long for some preschoolers. If that is the case, you can read just the first sentence on each page and still enjoy the book. What I love about Gail Gibbon’s books is that they can grow with the child.

The Vegetable Alphabet Book by Jerry Pallotta. Gorgeously illustrated alphabet book featuring vegetables and a sweet blend of facts with humor.

Vegetables, Vegetables by Fay Robinson. A scientific look at vegetables, illustrated with pictures instead of art.

Letter V Books about Violins

What in the World is a Violin by Mary Elizabeth Salzmann. An engaging and detailed look at this beautiful instrument, its parts, and the music it can make.

Zin! Zin! The Violin by Lloyd Moss. A delightful introduction to the orchestra, the violin, and the different kinds of instruments, with engaging rhyme and flowing illustrations.

The Bat Boy and His Violin by Gavin Curtis. When Reginald must accompany his father and serve as bat boy for the Dukes baseball team, how will he ever find time to practice on his violin?

Vase Picture Books

Read this book to introduce the Uppercase Letter V Craft with your child. In the craft, a vase is made form the letter V and filled with flowers.

Who Broke the Vase? by Jeffrey Turner. A little dog does something he shouldn’t, and then spins a tale to cover up his mistake.

Vulture Picture Books

These two books go perfectly with our Lowercase Letter V Craft for preschool, in which your child will create a vulture from the letter V and construction paper.

Vulture View by April Pulley Sayre. A closer look at this despised bird who actually plays a really, really important role in our world. Beautifully illustrated.

The Sulky Vulture by Sally Grindley. A great book to get your book to get your whole family laughing hysterically.
