Where to Start
I always recommend starting with the letters in your child’s name. Children love anything related to self and will naturally get excited about learning the letters that make up their name. Again, this is all about making learning relevant to your child’s world!
How to Use Animal Letter Crafts
Cutting and pasting are incredibly valuable for young children. Provide scissors, glue, crayons or markers, and maybe some googly eyes for your child. Show your child each step and then let them do the work. Only help with cutting when absolutely necessary!
As your student creates the animal, practice the letter sound together and name other items that begin with the same letter. When the animal is completed, go over the sound of the letter again, and have the student trace the animal/letter shape with the pointer finger. Display the finished product or allow your child to play with his new friend.
If your child is in my preschool class, I recommend completing one letter per week to go along with what they are learning in class.
